General Questions

A site refers to an individual farm location.

Sounds and environmental parameters are monitored 24/7 and processed automatically by the sensors. The gateway then collects all the data transmitted from the monitors, processes the collected sound files, and uploads the processed data to the cloud.

A monitor can cover a zone up of up to 20 meters (65.6 ft.) in diameter.

Yes, the SoundTalks® monitors only works for growing pigs.

Connectivity

Yes, an internet connection is needed in your barn for SoundTalks devices. The gateway needs a wired internet connection to work, and the monitors need to form a wireless connection to the gateway for the entire system to function.

Yes, the system requires internet connection continuously. However, if for some reason your internet connection fails, the gateway will save your data for a few days (depending on the number of monitors installed) and send it to the cloud when the internet connection is once again functional. Please contact your sales representative for more information.

No, the gateway can only be connected to the internet using an ethernet cable.

General Installation Questions

You will need 1 Mbps and 1 Gb/month upload volume per monitor. If you do not know how much internet speed you have, please contact your internet service provider or run an internet speed test online.

The monitors should be hung at minimum of 2 meters (6.6 ft.) high from the pigs. The coverage of one monitor is 20 meters (65.6 ft.) in diameter, thus the installation should be determined by the size of the operation. For further instructions, please check the user manual.

Monitor Installation and Troubleshooting

You can edit your password in the Settings menu of the SoundTalks® web portal. Access the Settings menu by clicking on your name in the top right-hand corner of your screen.

You can find the registration code for your monitors directly on the monitors and on the sticker provided inside the SoundTalks® box.

If the LED light on your monitors is showing a solid green, yellow, red, or blue color, your device is online and connected to the gateway. If the LED light on your monitors is showing a solid blue color but the gateway LED light is not flashing, the monitor is online, but the gateway is not collecting data. You can also check the status of your devices directly on the SoundTalks® web portal.

If the LED light on your monitor is flashing blue, it means that it was not able to connect to the gateway device. You should move your monitor to another place in order to establish a connection, which is indicated by a solid blue light on the monitor.

The monitor is functioning correctly when the LED light is showing a solid green, yellow, red or blue color. However, if your monitor is flashing blue, it indicates that it is no longer connected to the gateway. In this case, you’ll need to move the monitor in order to establish a connection. You can also go to the Devices tab of the SoundTalks® web portal to check the status of your monitors.

The radius of the monitors is 10 meters (32.8 ft.). If one monitor is not enough for the area you are monitoring, it is recommended that you install another monitor to gain full coverage of your desired area. Please contact your sales representative for more information.

The monitor should have access to power and it should hang among the pig pens at a height of between 2 and 5 meters (6.6 and 16.4 ft.), no further than 30 meters (98.4 ft.) away from the gateway and any other monitors that are connected to the gateway. If you encounter issues with monitor placement, please contact your sales representative.

To correctly install your monitors and your gateway device, please follow the installation instructions in the Quick Start Guide or watch the instructional video by scanning the QR code on your SoundTalks® box. If you encounter any issues while installing your monitors, please contact your sales representative.

Up to 32 monitors can be connected to one gateway device. If you have more than 32 monitors, you should purchase and install an additional gateway device. Please contact your sales representative for more installation information.

You can edit the name of your monitor by clicking on the Devices tab in the SoundTalks® online web portal.

No, you do not need Wi-Fi for the gateway or monitors to function. However, the gateway does require connection to the internet via an ethernet cable.

The monitors must be installed above your pigs, according to the instructions in the Quick Start Guide. Please do not hesitate to consult the Quick Start Guide or contact your sales representative for assistance.

If you would like to move your monitors within your existing site, you can reposition or relocate them as you wish. However, if you would like to move your monitors to a different site, you will need to purchase a new set of devices. Please contact your sales representative directly for more information.

Gateway Installation and Troubleshooting

If your gateway device is flashing blue, it means that it was not able to connect to the internet. Please make sure that the gateway is properly connected to the internet. If you need further assistance, please contact your sales representative.

You can find the registration code for your gateway directly on the gateway device or on the sticker provided inside the SoundTalks® box.

Your gateway device should be placed at a height of about two meters (6.6 ft.), with the front of the gateway facing the nearest monitor. Note: the gateway requires access to power and internet. If you encounter issues regarding the placement of your gateway device, please contact your sales representative.

To correctly install your gateway device, please follow the installation instructions in the Quick Start Guide or watch the instructional video by scanning the QR code on your SoundTalks® box. If you encounter any issues installing your gateway device, please contact your sales representative.

No, you do not need Wi-Fi for the gateway and monitors to function. However, the gateway does require connection to the internet via an ethernet cable.

The gateway requires 1Gb upload volume per monitor per month in order to function.

Maintenance

The monitors are certified IP54 and the gateways are certified IP55. The gateway and the monitors can be left in the barn or in an office during normal cleaning procedure. However, it is advised that the monitors not be sprayed directly with high-pressure washers. The gateway can be sprayed with water from all angles. Do not spray water directly onto the bottoms of the monitors, as this will damage the monitors’ sensors.

It is recommended to use a wet cloth to clean your SoundTalks® devices.

Yes, you can set your notifications preferences on the Settings page of the SoundTalks® web portal.

You can receive notifications from SoundTalks® on your personal dashboard or through push notifications from the SoundTalks® app. To manage your notifications, please go to the Settings page of the SoundTalks® web portal.

In the SoundTalks® web portal, once you have clicked on a specific barn site, you can click on the Devices tab where you will see the status of each of the monitors for that site.

Go to www.soundtalksweb.com and use your email and password to log in.

Your username is your email address.

You can retrieve your password by clicking on the “Forgot Password” button here www.soundtalksweb.com/sign-in.

MySoundTalks Platform Features

You can find the coughing graphs for each device under the Airspace tab by selecting the airspace in which each device is hanging.

You can find all of the monitors registered to your site under the Devices tab of the SoundTalks® web portal or mobile app.

The selection of available languages for SoundTalks® is currently under development. You will be advised as soon as any other languages become available.

Yes, the people that you add to your site on the SoundTalks® web portal do have access to that site’s data.

  • Hourly graph: This graph shows the alarm status of your barn airspace over the last 24 hours.
  • Daily graph: This graph shows the device statuses in the selected barn airspaces over the last week.
  • Cough graph: This graph shows the coughing and the temperature data collected over the last three months.

You can configure the language of the MySoundtalks app to English, German and Spanish.

You can manage the users of your sites by clicking the site that you want to view and then clicking on the User tab.

When you register the site online, you can choose the specific location of your farm.

You can check the alerts directly under the Alerts tab on both the mobile app and the SoundTalks Web portal.

You can consult your measured data on both the web portal (www.soundtalksweb.com) and the SoundTalks® mobile app.

There are some differences between the mobile app and the web portal. The following functions are only available on the web portal: User settings, detailed data graphs, addition of new sites, and the ability to manage contacts.

Yes, your smartphone should be connected to the internet or a mobile data service.

Yes, the SoundTalks® app is available on smartphones and tablets; however, is not available on computers. To access your SoundTalks® account from a computer, use the SoundTalks® web portal

You can create an account on the SoundTalks® mobile app by clicking on the “Create Profile” button before you log in for the first time. You can also log in to the SoundTalks® app with the same credentials you use for the web portal. If you have forgotten your credentials, please retrieve them directly on your web portal desktop page.

You can download the SoundTalks® mobile app for both Android and iOS smartphones directly from the App Store® or Google Play® store. If you cannot find the SoundTalks® app, please contact your sales representative.

Click on the site for which you want to create a message, then go the Conversations tab. From there, you will find a button to create a new message

When someone adds you to a site, you will receive an email request for confirmation. If you did not receive the email, please check your spam folder and verify that the administrator of the site correctly entered your email address.

You can send unlimited messages to other users.

As an administrator, you can manage your users under the User tab.

Interpreting Results

• Blue (Solid): The gateway is connected to power and is connected to the internet.
• Blue (Flashing): The gateway is connected to power but there is no connection to the internet.

• Green: Respiratory health status is OK.
• Yellow: Caution! Potential respiratory health problems. Vigilance required.
• Red: Risk! High level of coughing. Action is required.
• Blue (Solid): A continuously blue monitor indicates that all connections are on.
• Blue (Flashing): The monitor is disconnected and looking for a connection to the gateway device or the system that is being installed. No data is being sent and no results are being received.
• Purple: An error has occurred.

You can see the results of your monitor data on www.soundtalksweb.com or on the MySoundTalks mobile app.

Security and Data

All data is automatically sent to the secure server and processed by the algorithm. The results are then provided to you via the app and web portal, showing you data and results that can help you make more informed decisions.

The monitored data is automatically processed by the SoundTalks® algorithm, which then provides an interpretation to the user.

All data is stored in our database indefinitely. However, your site’s coughing and temperature data for the last 6 months is available on the platform.
